Microsoft has been rivaled the most by open source community in many spheres thereby hitting the sales of their products. We all well know how Mark ShuttleWorth took on Microsoft by developing Ubuntu Family.
Now the reign to top and the fight of Microsoft has reached a defining level. Microsoft has given a press release to their interview with James Fleming, infrastructure and support manager at Speedy Hire.
The interview severely criticizes open source software product for their hidden costs and praises Microsoft for their clear cut approach and high Productivity products.
But this is quite contrary to what Microsoft is doing these days by even having their own open source labs. They even distributed free software in India. Serdar Yegulalp, of Information week in his article says:
The best word for Microsoft’s attempts to deal with open source is schizoid. On the one hand you have the folks at the Open Source Lab, who are building what bridges they can — and on the other, you have the rest of the company, including its marketing and PR divisions, who may end up undoing what good is done.
Editor’s Note: Though the best mix for any organisation would be paid and open source. One (Microsoft in this case) shouldn’t openly criticise anybody.
