Google Earth 5.0 may have a potential security hole

Cyberspirits.net Exclusive: While whole world is rejoicing over the launch of of new Google Earth 5.0 many of you may not be aware that Google Earth 5.0 may make your PC vulnerable to attacks. As Google Earth now needs Google App Engine.

Here comes the security concerns According to the documentation of Google Apps Engine, it even has the potential to modify your OS kernel files (See Screen Shots taken from Google Apps Engine Documentation above).

This means if some plants a malicious file or ports in a malware in Google Apps Engine file it can get into your OS too. Though Google says that: Google Software Update verifies updates and is safer than downloading files from the Internet yourself.

I hope Google fixes the issue fast as Google Earth 5.0 (which has many new features) requires the installation of Google Update Engine and if you dont choose to install it ,you cannot use Google Earth 5.0.

Note: This is a first hand analysis of what I felt. Rest its on the security testers to check it out. This article has been written only to voice an opinion/raise a concern and does not prohibits you from downloading any products mentioned in this article
