Initiation of Khalsa and the meaning 5 Ks in Sikhi

The 5 Ks taken together symbolise that the Sikh who wears them has dedicated themselves to a life of devotion and submission to the Guru. The Khalsa (Saint Soldier) is a formal name given to Sikhs who baptize to Sikhi.

The 5 Ks date from the creation of the Khalsa Panth by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699. The 5 Ks are 5 physical symbols worn by Sikhs who have been initiated into the Khalsa.

What is Sikhism and Khalsa Panth?

Sikhism is the Saint-Soldier path or we also say Sant Sipahi Marag or Khalsa Panth. Khalsa is a Persian word which symbolizes of purity. Out of 10 Sikh Gurus, 8 Sikh Gurus laid the platform of being a Saint and 6th and 10th Guru formalized Sikh to Saint-Soldier or Sant Sipahi. Many ask a question on why soldier form has been associated with the Sikh? It is so because that what the use of that Meditation of God or naam japna is when a saint cannot protect himself or herself. When God has given us all mind, brain and body then why not protect ourselves.
