In a recent blog post on Gmail blog, Google have put to rest all the controversies surrounding their policy of serving advertisements along your electronic mails coming in gmail inbox. But many wonder how does Google do it? Do they read your emails to serve ads?

To clarify this Gmail technicians say:

To show these ads, our systems don’t need to store any extra information — Gmail just picks a different recent email to match. The process is entirely automated: no humans are involved in selecting ads, and no email or personal information is shared with advertisers.

Those who are curious what new procedure is all about can have a look at this video below:

The security breach is once again hitting the headlines at the start of calendar year 2010 and this time its of a very high magnitude. The cyber war has got into an ugly phase as at 20 other large companies from a wide range of businesses–including the Internet, finance, technology, media and chemical sectors–have been targeted by Chinese Hackers.

Chinese Hacking Spree: Google and Indian Prime Minister Office Targeted

This staggering revelation has been officially brought up by Google on their Official Blog post (which can bee seen here). The road does not end here. Pas month the Chinese hackers also accessed critical information from Indian Prime Minister’s Office where hackers had aimed India’s national security set-up (reported by Indian media).

Google meanwhile has demanded explanation from the Chinese regime to take some major Action. Google has also threatened to shutdown its operation from China and seize google.cn (the Chinese search engine name of Google).

While all this drama unfolds the gmail team has taken a proactive measure by stepping up the https security for GMail. This may have come after some critical lost information allowed hackers to access the accounts of human right activists in China.

So the intense battle is on and with Google involves in this HTC product the stakes are always high. As the year progress let’s see who will emerge as the winner? Another thing which many reviewer’s in past months found lacking in Nexus One was absence of Gmail Access.

But people who are looking to but Nexus One have a good news at their end. Gmail team yesterday announced the arrival of Gmail on Nexus One. Hope this 11 point comparison helps you in choosing the product of your choice.

This in fact symbolizes that data only need a physical address and location a a media for storage. Which is off course too simple. But the problem starts arising when that media is full itself.

Coming to Google it has offered many free products all the while for users which included Picasa, blogger and off course Gmail, many others. But the problems is space is limited for each users. What if I need more space when I run out of it.

Starting from today you can buy 20 GB for only $5 a year, twice as much storage for a quarter of the old price, and enough space for more than 10,000 full resolution pictures taken with a five megapixel camera. So enjoy un-interrupted storage of emails and photos with Google.

Today wen I opened up gmail to check my regular emails I got a 404 not found exception. I checked the gmail blog but there are no updates. I’m just curious whether gmail is in problem (see the screenshot below) or my wireless network security has been compromised.

Here is the screen shot of the problem:

Also when I was using Google search with Firefox 3.5 It was giving me a 302 error (see screenshot below).

Please comment on this post if you are encountering the same problem as I’m while accessing GMail/Google or my wireless network security has been compromised.

[Update Nov 11, 2009

1. I think Gmail/Google were absolutely fine, It was my personal pc/network security which was compromised. We are are working to get this website right on track

2. But Im still amazed how a small malware can block my web access to Gmail (throwing an Apache 404 error ) and to Google (by throwing 302 error) ]

Gmail team has come up with an excellent utility feature which allows you to view multimedia content within the email page. This inherently means that you don’t have to page up separately for the documents you get in your email.

Earlier this year Gmail had come up with a great feature to view or watch YouTube videos, Yelp reviews, and Picasa and Flickr albums within the gmail page. The latest feature in this preview series of media content includes viewing the Docs in the same page with which your Gmail is opened up.

It is is very simple and you just have to click “Show preview” and the contents of the document will display right there — no need to switch back and forth between email response and document.

To know how you can do this just go to gmail blog, and just do this stuff.

On the search engine stuff, Google team has done a good job by introducing the search snippets. This can help you getting the relevant content easier and faster.
